The 2019 hurricane season is heading into its busiest time of year. This is a great opportunity to review our severe weather plan with you. Bryan County Schools considers the safety of our employees and the families we serve as our highest priority when making decisions regarding the weather. We determine whether to open or close our schools during bad weather based on a careful analysis of all relevant factors.
Please remember, our highest priority will always be the safety of our students, their families and our employees. We also recognize that our students are better served – both academically and socially – by being in school. School closure decisions are made based on the most current and accurate information available through close and constant communication with our severe weather partners, along with Bryan County Emergency Services.
In any emergency, it is important for everyone to rely on timely and accurate information directly from the school district and local and state officials. All official announcements regarding schools will be made through our call out system (text messaging from the district), email, our website, Facebook page and Twitter page.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate Hurricane Dorian and other challenges that emerge throughout this school year. Again, I emphasize that student and staff safety is our highest priority, and we will only hold school when the learning environment is safe and productive.
Thank you for your time and I hope you have a wonderful three-day weekend!
